In much of the religious world, women out-number men in attendance of services, volunteering - women report praying more regularly and describe themselves as affiliated with religion more frequently than men. 

Orthodox Christianity has typically been no different. Much ink has been spilled lamenting the difficulty in getting men, especially young men, to church. So surely, it is good news that more men are joining the church, right?

Not quite.

Recent findings from the Orthodox Church in America show that 75% of the converts since 2019 have been men.

Admittedly, this study was possibly not to the highest standards of academic rigor - it was self-report and some dioceses were more forthcoming than others, but let’s say this was an overestimate. Lets say, maybe it was ⅔ of converts who were men.

That’s still not good.

Women are roughly 50% of the population. Anywhere that the ratio of one gender to the other is 3:1, or even 2:1…we have to ask ourselves, why?
